Asian folktales Storytelling Competition 2006
Date: 2 september 2006
Time: 1-5pm
Veune: The Fontier CC Hall level 4
This is our YEC’s first big-scale event. As this is our very first storytelling competition, we decide to hold the event at our hall and collaborate with the National Library Board to gain some experience. There are 2 categories, the lower and the upper primary for the competition. Each group consists of no more than 5 pupils and they have around 5 minutes to act out their story.
Getting participants is not an easy task. Many schools are not familiar with the Frontier CC or YEC as we are relatively new. Nevertheless, we managed to attract the participation of around 8 primary schools in the west region. Together with the audience (mostly made up of the parents of the pupils and supporters from schools), there are around 200 people attending our event.
We felt that our hard work was paid off. We must thank Paddy especially as she is the key person to help us run the event. We received some compliments from the teachers in charge from the participating schools and we can see that the pupils are happy. Therefore, we strive to hold the competition the following year and make it a better one!
