The Frontier YEC Night Cycling review
Date: 28 Oct 2006
The Night Cycling allows participants to experience group cycling at night for 90km that tests both physical and mental toughness especially during the “graveyard hours” where the human body is at its weakest for many.
There are mini breaks in between for participants to replenish their energy in order to complete the 90km night cycling event.
The 90km night cycling involves the various YECs together with the participants to start their own route before meeting up at a common first checkpoint located at Kranji.
From Kranji, the YECs and participants continue the rest of their route together to reach the final destination of
Night cycling was the second event that I participated upon joining The Frontier YEC.
It was however the first time that I embarked on a night cycling trip.
Cycling along the quiet roads at night with the breeze blowing was an enjoyable experience despite the fact that it was not as easy as imagined.
I had the best of all worlds as an organizer in the night cycling event because I get to experience more in comparison with the other participants who are only there to cycle.
The experience includes being able to cycle for certain distances with other participants, doing route marshal and many other fond experiences.
Through this night cycling event, I had a deeper understanding of my fellow Frontier YEC members and how the other established YECs operate in comparison with newly formed Frontier.
I personally feel that areas for improvement could include having better rented bicycles and a night cycling that also focus on introducing things like history or food like that of a guided night cycling.
In short, it was a wonderful experience and I will look forward having another night cycling event.
