We had our team building cum YEC meeting on 5th Jan 2008 at Sakura at Jurong West Swimming Complex for their International Buffet Lunch. Today is very special as we had the PRCs attached to us to attend our Team Building event. Let’s warmly welcome them. =)
The PRCs attached to us are as follows:
Majie
Huang Xu
Shen Kai
Senyuan
Weiru
Shiyan
Wan Hao
*Applause *
In addition, we had an observer with us today. He’s Jeremy (Jing Kang’s friend).
*Applause* Our YEC is really expanding. YEAH!
Before we had our lunch, we had our monthly YEC meeting. We have discussed about our Chinese New Year Tour, Storytelling Competition (Flagship Event) and Egaming etc.
Without further ado, let’s FEAST !!
It was a Japanese plus International Buffet. They have Sashimi (YUM!), Dim Sum, fried food, grilled fish, chicken etc…. there’s definitely no lag of food.
Everyone is enjoying their FOOD!
After we were all fully and well fed, we had a round of introduction. We had better idea about each other’s name, our interests and occupation/ field of study. This introduction is not done without an objective. We played a game whereby we had to write our name and 3 things about ourselves (2 things that is true and 1 is untrue). When Michelle read out all the facts about the person, we had to say which fact is false. During the game, everyone is enthusiastic guessing which fact is false. Everyone had fun guessing which is false and using our own theory to eliminate the facts or using their “feel” to guess which fact does not fit the person. Even though it’s a simple game, but everyone enjoyed the process of it. On top of it, we got to know everyone, even for those members who had been in the committee since last term.
Personally, I feel that I got to know more about the PRCs. Not only about themselves, I also got to know more about their hometown. From the famous attractions, to their culture and food. This further enhances my interest in China, which I was already attracted to China’s magnificent landscapes, mountains and food culture. =) Hopefully, I have chance to visit to these famous and beautiful attractions.

Teambonding Lunch
Date : 5th Jan 2008
Time: 12 pm
Venue : Jurong West Stadium Sakura Restaurant
It was a happy lunch indeed. Finally, all our PRC members got to get together with YEC staff. For most of us, it’s the first time to meet with their buddies, making us quite excited. Still, it’s a pity that several buddies were absent. Before lunch, we had a meeting discussing the working plan for the following half year. As we are newcomers in this team, we didn’t really contribute much to the meeting. Most of the time, we just sit and listen. To tell the truth, we got confused about the procedure of the meeting. Although we didn’t say anything during the meeting, I think the existence of us did count. As we nod or smile during their presentation, they felt the recognition of their proposal from us. Thus, we had an efficient meeting. After that, we ate lunch and chat together. Everyone was so friendly that we soon got familiar with each other. We even played a little game---Each one write 3things about oneself, one of which should be false. And the rest should find out the false one. That game helped us get to know each member better and created a friendly atmosphere within the team. Every of our PRC members valued the chance to work with these local friends. We would like to put every effort to help them and make friends with all of them. We like this team, we enjoy the CC activities.

Christmas Cum Countdown Party @ zone 5
Date: 29 Dec. 2007
Time: 7:30 pm.
Venue: Zone 5 RC multi-purpose hall
This was the first event which I took part in with YECs. Our job was to serve the food and my job was to tear the tickets and tell my friends how many sets of food we should provide. Usually we served two or three sets at a time but sometimes we need to serve 8 sets at a time. Haha, don’t worry, we packed them very well without panic. Besides the food, there were many other programs such as singing, game zone, small gifts, lucky draw and so on during the party. We also hold two interesting games for the kids at zone 5. They were so lovely. People chatted and ate happily and welcomed the coming New Year warmly.
For the new year, may everyone stay healthy and cheerful!

Educational ToursI've had several experience bringing people on educational tours during the holidays as personally, I like travelling. My good buddy, Carol and I have been to several different places including Governmental Buildings like the
Newater plants and Paya Lebar Airbase, historical sites such as the
Central Firestation , "Nature walks" such as
Animal resort , vegetable farms ,
Orchid Garden as well as several
factories like Bak Kua Factory, Noodle Factory, Soon Kuah Factory, Otah Factory, Oinment Factory etc. These were very interesting experiences where I would not have chance to see if I had not been on the tour.
The most memorable was the tour to the Newater plant. There were video clips and trained guides to educate us on Newater and the different sophisticated processes that our sewage water will have to undergo before we get our sparkling clear and safe-to-drink water. We get to see the machineries and the different compartments through the glass windows. There were also interactive corners (kid's favourite) which emphasizes the importance of saving water. Therefore, I feel that this is the most educational tour that Carol and I have ever led and the adults and children also agree.
I was never trained as a tour guide before, but through these tours, I've gained some experiences leading tours. Personally, I feel that I am more confident in speaking and engaging the different age groups and this is really a great achievement to me.
However, I feel that there is still room for improvement. Sometimes, the bus companies will pre-plan certain places to go (their affliated companies) and I feel that we are 'forced' to bring people there. Therefore, Carol and I have plans to decide the places we want to go instead of leaving it to the bus company.
After each tour, we will do a review with our participants, and it is really encouraging when we receive quite a number of good comments and to know that some people even came back for us!
