Monthly Meeting and fieldtrip to the Botanical Gardens
11May 2008
In the bright sunshine, a group of people wearing orange T-shirt rambled in this enchanting natural scenery---multi-colored flowers embellishing the dense branches, the shade encircling the lake, birds attracted by the sweet aromatic air flying around and singing.
What a happy outing! Actually this was the monthly meeting of our Frontier YEC for May. Instead of the boring discussion in the usual conference room, we grouped together in the Botanical Gardens this time to share information collected by each member, plan for the following events, while having fun. Also, during this outing, we conducted a survey of the condition here in details, as this garden would be a site of Education Tour which is a meaningful event we are preparing.
Around 1.30 pm, our bus got to the gate of Children’s Garden. After lunch, we sit in a circle outside the garden and start our meeting. It lasted about 2 hours. Then we went inside and enjoyed the beauty of the scenary. The first sight was the Evolution Garden where we took photos and played games happily. Then we visited the corner green, saw Shaw Foundation Symphony Stage and went by National Orchid Garden, Ginger Garden, Coach Drop-off and Swan Lake. When we got out, we discussed and selected a final path for the Education Tour. Afterward, we got on the bus and went back.
This meeting was indeed happy and efficient. Hope we can have activities like this more often. I had really a good time together with all YEC members. This outing is another unforgettable memory of my days in Frontier YEC. I think our members are great and our YEC is great. Let’s just keep on working together and get ready for the coming events!

Mother's Day Celebration dinner on 10 May 2008
(Collaboration with various zones rcs)
“有一个名字叫母亲,有一份情叫母爱。”
It’s 10th May, the day before Mother’s Day. We PRC students went to Jurong East to celebrate Mother’s Day.
As long as I arrived there, I saw a line of words read mother is always our idol. My tear was just filled my eyes. I suddenly felt very proud of myself, because I could be here to help and celebrate this special day with more other mothers although I cannot stay with my own mom. After we had our lunch there, we started to pack goody bags for our moms. We are all interested in it and we even enjoyed competing each other that who could pack faster. That’s really much more fun than tiredness.
Some of us are also invited to the dinner in the evening. It’s our first time to attend this kind of big dinner in Singapore. We were very excited about the procedure they served the dishes and the shows during the dinner. The singers sang very well. Particularly, I enjoyed the “dress show” very much. A senator of Singapore also came over to visit our moms as well. He seems to be very kind and I was 惊讶 的to see this big shot in such a short distance.
Over all, it’s a meaningful day for all of us and I want to say mother is always our idol.

Teambuilding course at Taman Jurong CC
The Frontier YEC was honoured to attend a team building workshop organised by Taman Jurong YEC on 19th April 2008.
The workshop “Looking In, Focusing Out- The Motivational Profile Approach” was conducted by NACLI. A few of us attended th workshops: Carol, me, Wanling and Bixin.
It helps us to learn about the primary motivations that motivate ourselves and also how others are motivated.
We started the day by first having some physical stretching session in a fun manner.
This was followed by an icebreaker session where we try to learn more about the background of each other.
From there, we found out that some of us are musically inclined; others are camp lovers; others having high level of medical knowledge and many interesting things.
We had various results from the motivational profiling questionnaire and apparently I seem to have results that is not in tandem with the majority (Maybe I have weird way of thinking and have a special way of being motivated =P).
Lunch was next on the schedule.
We had lunch in a buffet style at the hall of Taman Jurong CC.
A game of “ding and dong” that requires a focused brain was the first item after lunch.
It was then followed by “transformer” and “traffic light” where we put our motivational profiling into practice before we call it for a day.
